Facebook Ads Welcome Message
Prerequisites — Verify All Connections First
Before creating a welcome message, confirm the following are properly connected:
Facebook Ads Account — Connected under the Ads Management section
Facebook Business Manager — Connected under the e-Commerce tab
Correct Facebook Page — Verified in the Bots section
Ad Manager — All pages need to be under the same Business Manager where you have the Ads Accounts.
All four connections must be active before proceeding.
Step 1 — Create a Welcome Message
Go inside your Bot → navigate to the Tools section
Locate the new feature: Facebook Ad Messaging → click it to open Welcome Messages
Click + Message to create a new one
Enter a name (e.g.,
Welcome One)Select the channel: Messenger or Instagram
Choose a message type:
Text — supports adding buttons and quick replies
Video — standalone video
Image — standalone image
Card — includes an image with additional content
Write your message body
Optionally add:
Buttons
Quick Replies
Click Save, then click Sync
Step 2 — Connect the Welcome Message to a Facebook Ad
Go to Facebook Ads Manager and refresh the page
Open or create a Campaign (objective: Traffic works fine)
Navigate to the Ad Set level
Find Messaging Destinations → select Messenger
Proceed to the Ad level → click New Traffic Ad
Scroll to Messaging Template
Choose Use Existing or Create New
Click Partner App → then Select Flow
Select the app (may appear as UChat App or Chatbot App depending on your account)
Choose the welcome message flow you created (e.g.,
Welcome One)
Click Send Preview to test — the message will appear in your Messenger
Step 3 — (Optional) Connect a Button to a Subflow
This allows a button inside the welcome message to trigger a specific chatbot flow.
Create the Payload:
In UChat, go to Tools → Facebook Ads Payload
Click + Create New to generate a payload
Copy the generated payload code
Link Payload to a Subflow:
Open the subflow you want to trigger
Add a message or action (e.g., "Subflow has been sent from UChat")
Click Publish
Add a Reply Button to the Welcome Message:
Go back to Tools → Facebook Ads Messaging
Open your welcome message → click Add a Reply Button
Set the button text (e.g.,
Click Here)Paste the Facebook Ads Payload into the payload field
Click Save → then Sync
Verify in Ads Manager:
Refresh Ads Manager
Go back to Partner App → select your chatbot app → select the message flow
The button will now appear in the preview
Click Preview in Messenger — clicking the button should trigger the connected subflow
